The Penitentiary Museum of the Costa Rican Center for Science and Culture (CCCC) invites the public to live a special night on August 25th, on the occasion of Mother’s Day. It is “A Night in the Peni”, an activity that combines theater, dance and music to recreate real stories that happened in the old Central Penitentiary of San José.
Attendees will be able to walk through the corridors of what was one of the most feared places in the country until 1979 and learn about the emotions and feelings of the people deprived of liberty on such a significant date. In addition, they will be able to enjoy a meal at the end of the tour, a gift and the opportunity to take pictures set to the occasion.
The activity has a value of ¢10,000 per person and is recommended for people over 15 years old. Tickets can be purchased on the boleteria.museocr.org page. The night tour will start at 6:00 p.m. and will last approximately two hours.
“At the Penitentiary Museum we strive to make each ‘Night in the Peni’ a space full of history, experiences and reflection on different social issues, all through theatrical interpretations, dance, stories, music and emotions that have marked the walls of this iconic building. We are sure that this edition will touch the heartstrings of those present by the very significant theme, such as mothers,” said Cristian Salazar, director of the Penitentiary Museum.
